In short
“Halagasha is the Xhosa term which this South Africa tribe use when celebrating the score of a soccer goal. Pinotage is a celebration of what we can achieve with this local variety in South Africa and Halagasha is just one of many examples of this diverse style.”
Description
Pinotage is a cross between two formidable grapes: Pinot Noir and Cinsault. Each of these varieties thrive in the right conditions and we’ve never found such an incredible bottling as this. It’s unlike others as it’s the opposite of forced dark fruits and is devoid of new oak lending itself to pure, unadulterated fruit. Pinotage is South Africa’s signature grape and we’ve found an exemplary version that’s age-worthy. Halagasha is from the Xhosa language and means aspiration or goal to finally make a great Pinotage. Whole bunch fermented for 8 days in stainless steel tanks. Thereafter, aged for 5 months in 225L barrels after which it spends 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
